The Inn on
Poplar Hill is a Bed and Breakfast in Orange Virginia
near the University of Virginia and Montpelier in the
heart of Virginia wine Country. A comfortably elegant,
Queen Anne Victorian built in the 1890's, by the Great
Granddaughter of Thomas Jefferson. The Inn on Poplar
Hill overlooks the historic town of Orange Virginia.
Surrounded by 28 acres with an abundance of wildflowers,
walking trails and country charm.
Poplar
Hill is just a short walk to Main Street town to visit
one of the many antique & gift shops, enjoy dinner or
visit an art gallery. For a more secluded escape, many
guests prefer to stroll our miles of walking trails. Our
resident mascot, Bear, a friendly flat coat retriever
will show you the way to our stocked fishing pond. We
will be happy to pack you a special picnic lunch or
dinner to take along.
We also host
Weddings and Receptions and have multiple venues for
intimate or large Ceremonies and gatherings for 10 to
200 people.
Start the day
with hot coffee or tea delivered to your door. Then join
your fellow guests in the candlelit dining room for a
full country breakfast with a choice of entries. Or, if
you prefer, order a very special breakfast in bed. In
the evening kick back in the game room for billiards, or
a movie by the fire. Enjoy star gazing from our outdoor
Hot Tub.
We offer six
bedrooms, each with private baths. Choose from antique
claw tubs, whirlpool tub for two or “Mr. Steam” Shower,
a uniquely HOT experience! Our rooms are uniquely
decorated with custom window treatments, period
antiques, cozy handcrafted quilts and many other
details. All of our rooms are coordinated with the
elegance and comforts befitting a romantic country inn
with 21st Century comforts, including air conditioning.

Our murder
mystery dinners are interactive role playing games
played while enjoying a six course gourmet dinner. Each
participant assumes a persona, learns of a crime,
becomes a suspect and interacts with the other guests to
solve a crime. All that is required is a sense of humor
and a willingness to take a light hearted attitude
toward blackmail, sex, larceny, deceit and murder. So
much fun it is almost criminal. Call to plan a private
