The essence of Virginia … Romantic, historic c.1726
country inn and restaurant on 80 rolling acres between
Orange and Culpeper offers elegant accommodations in 9
spacious guest rooms with private baths. Acclaimed fine
dining, extensive Virginia wine list, warm hospitality
with elegant porches and spectacular gardens and Blue
Ridge Mountain views.
Cradled in the heart of Mr. Jefferson’s Virginia, the
renowned Inn at Meander Plantation offers a rare
opportunity to experience the charm and elegance of
Colonial living at its best. Surrounded by 80 private,
rolling acres of landscaped and natural beauty, the
award winning Inn at Meander Plantation offers
accommodations created for guests seeking the ultimate
in relaxation, fine dining and gentle adventure.
Entering the Georgian-style house by crossing a massive
columned front porch, the sun-drenched rooms, reflective
of the elegance and romance of a Virginia country
estate, welcome you with warmth and comfort. Wide-plank
chestnut flooring, antique dentil molding and
large-pane, wavy glass windows bespeak the home’s rich
heritage.
Guestrooms
for overnight accommodations are located in both the
manor house and the Colonial dependency buildings that
still exist on this lovingly restored and maintained
property. Each of the nine guest quarters is uniquely
furnished with antiques and period reproductions, queen
or king size beds, fine linens, down-filled comforters,
plump pillows, plush robes and luxurious toiletries in
the private bath. Many rooms have fireplaces. Some
(those not in the main house) are even pet-friendly. All
are non-smoking.
A sumptuous and generous three-course breakfast of
fresh-baked pastries, seasonal fruit and savory or sweet
entrée selections is served daily to overnight guests.
Elegant, five-course candlelit dinner is available to
guests and the public on Thursday, Friday and Saturday
evenings in the Inn’s intimate restaurant. Lunches,
private dinners and special events can also be arranged.
The Inn’s dining room, with its elegant proportions,
slate floor, Colonial fireplace, fine art, hand-woven
Persian rug and high ceilings sets the stage for a
memorable fine dining experience. The ambience of the
restaurant is surpassed only by the exquisite cuisine.
Exceptional American cuisine, excellent service and
wonderful Virginia wines from our well-stocked cellar
make Meander Plantation Restaurant a fabulous culinary
experience. We strive to have the finest exclusively
Virginia wine list in the state, representing the finest
Virginia wines from the finest Virginia wineries.
Charming and talented Chef Michael Zentner, an honors
graduate of The Culinary Institute of America, will
create a meal that will surprise and delight you with
the finest ingredients found locally in an area
frequently called the Tuscany of the United States. His
ingenious and carefully prepared dishes receive critical
acclaim and rave reviews.
For those interested in creating their own culinary
memories, the monthly “Country Inn Cooking School” is a
two-day experience that offers hands-on instruction from
the Inn’s three chefs and an evening with one of
Virginia’s many talented winemakers.
The allure of the Inn continues outdoors where rockers
line both levels of the expansive back porches, and
strategically placed benches, swings and hammocks offer
breathtaking views of sunsets and the Blue Ridge
Mountains. Ancient brick sidewalks wind through lush
gardens of old Virginia boxwoods, grand and rare trees,
heirloom plantings and aromatic herb gardens. Unexpected
trails lead to the pristine Robinson River that flows
along the property’s border.
Think also of The Inn at Meander Plantation as your

Jefferson’s beloved Monticello and its neighbor Ash
Lawn; bustling Charlottesville and the University of
Virginia; sobering Civil War scenes at Chancellorsville,
